There is a new middle school choice in Durham, and it combines a focus on the arts  and humanities with a concentration on nurturing the gifts and talents of its students. W.G. Pearson Magnet Middle School opened in the newly renovated, historic former W.G. Pearson Elementary School near the campus of North Carolina Central University, in fall 2007.

W. G. Pearson Magnet Middle School promises to provide a wonderful opportunity for students to explore and develop their special interests and talents in core courses, the arts, science and math, in a relatively small middle school setting.
